If you ran a bank, you would hire guards to stand outside it at night right? Well, Microsoft is removing the ‘guards’ from your computers and is leaving the door open to these robbers.

Windows 10 is losing Support

Sounds terrible right? Well, that’s because it is.

Microsoft has decided it’s time for devices to use the latest version of their operating systems, Windows 11, cutting support and development teams from there Windows 10 teams. It feels like Windows 10 only came out a few years ago… well guess what,

It released in July 2015 - 10 YEARS AGO!

So what does this actually mean for my devices?

With support ending for Windows 10, the doors will be left right open for malicious characters to get into your machine. Right now, the brains behind the Microsoft operating systems are working each day to update their systems to prevent bad characters from getting into your device.

These teams are having their focus shifted to Windows 11 from 14th October 2025

This will leave the door right open for C-grade hackers to your private information.

What can be done?

As of this article being written, we still have 152 days to act. However most of us know that this will become 0 days before we know it.

Most Windows 10 devices purchased in the last 5 years are Windows 11 compatible, however they will need to be upgraded to Windows 11. You can run this process yourself, but be warned, it could go pear shaped. I would recommend you have a professional do this.

Here’s how to identify if your computer is running Windows 10 or 11

  1. On your windows device hold down the “Windows key + R” and type in msinfo32, then click "OK"

  1. A Windows will appear - The first line should tell you what operating system you are currently running - as you can see here this system is running “Windows 11 Pro”

If you see Windows 11 - great! - This machine is ready for the changes in October. Ensure all other devices are also up to date.

Seeing Windows 10? - You don’t need to be alarmed, however you do need to act before October. Now is the best time to begin planning.

If your home or business needs help, please feel free to reach out and I’d be more than happy to have a friendly discussion around next steps.
